On June 18, 2009, Solar Team Twente presented its solar powered car to the press at the Amsterdam Convention Factory. With this car, the team managed to secure the 8th place at the 10th World Solar Challenge in Australia. Maria van der Hoeven, minister of Economic Affairs, unveiled the car to the press.

The event location in Amsterdam was very pleased to be hosting this event, as the Amsterdam Convention Factory considers sustainability a very important issue. Recently, this industrial event location underwent a technical renovation. This has made the location much more cost and energy efficient. An added bonus is that the technical modifications have created a range of new possibilities for the hosting of events.
